Swedish Black Metal veterans, Marduk, returned this 2009 with a new album called “Wormwood”. I’ve never been so excited about this release since most of the recent releases were so bland and tasteless but of course, I still tried this one and hoping for something interesting might possibly came out but none so far. No highlights, nothing. Just typical machine gun drumming with occasional useless “intros” and Maranatha influenced mid-paced groove that sounds strange for a Marduk release.

MEGADETH - Endgame CD (Thrash Metal)
It’s been a long time and Megadeth is finally back on track with Endgame, the band’s most recent album (2009). Simply put, this album just blows Death Magnetic away - as if someone can’t really help of not mentioning that one. Not only that the production is a thousand times better than Death Magnetic, the songs, were almost a leap and the shredding solos proves that Megadeth is NOT “a watered down Metallica”! -
TEMPLE OF BAAL - Old school Black Metal from France (Black Metal)
Old School Black Metal act from France, Temple of Baal, spawned this dying world 10 years ago (until now) to bring back darkness and aggression. After releasing three CDs, the band is now working on their upcoming third album. Expect nothing but aggressive and dark music. Other recent release is a Split EP with another French Black Metal band, Aosoth, and is released thru Debemur Morti Productions.

REBIRTH - The Process Of Obliteration CDR (Metal)
Strange thing to have this promo CDR. First track enters the room with some heavy sounding guitars and groovy drums, or call it catchy since groovy is a sin here. Harmonics shines here and there. Not so convinced with these guitars since the entire song sounds like a mix between Thrash and Hardcore, and I for one never like such a combination. -
DOG - The Skullection CDR (Black Metal)
This is bad. Just one of the bad demos coming out nowadays. DOG is a “side project” of some Hungarians who are also involved in Marblebog (already reviewed by one of the writers here I think). This one is their baby and that baby is ugly. Not ugly in a sense of musical terror but ugly in a sense of being bad. No way to understand what’s going on here. The first five tracks were written in Hungarian(?) titles. The drum machine (I’m thinking it is) is horrible. The guitars are weak. Those three, ok make it two, factors simply made this as the worst demos I’ve ever heard! -
DEVASTATOR - Morbid Force CD (Thrash/Black Metal)
CD starts with some punctured pipe echoing with a deep breathing voice, I’m fine with that. You know all these time consuming “intros” in every album you bought before the real song kicks in? Add this one on the list. Second track breaks loose, I suppose to say that was good. Raw guitars and production fitting this kind of “music”. Old School 80’s worship is the game of these devastating motherfuckers. But wait, I think I got myself a situation! -
NILE - Karl Sanders giving guitar lessons (Death Metal)
Nile, a known ravaging Death Metal act, is now having their oh-so-brilliant guitarist Karl Sanders to be giving “guitar lessons”. I couldn’t believe this at first! I mean guitar lessons from Karl Sanders?! This guy could be great in Nile but to give guitar lessons is unbelievable! That is like looking at that useless Alexi Laiho “guitar lessons” video, LOL! -
SAMAEL - will be playing at Heavy Christmas Meeting in Germany (Black Metal)
The used-to-be Black Metal initiators from Switzerland, now turned Electronic Metal, SAMAEL, confimred that they’ll be performing at the Heavy Christmas Meeting 2009. The said event will be taking place in Philipshalle (Düsseldorf), Germany this coming 11th of December 2009. -
VERMIN - Details for an upcoming album and new track is up for streaming (Death Metal)
Brace yourselves since this is not the godly Swedish Vermin! This time around we’re having news from Dutch’s Vermin! Seems like Vermin is already a household name, but anyway… this one from Holland is Brutal Death Metal consisting of Ron Vermunt (guitars/backing vocals), Pascal Payens (drums), Wolf Josten (guitars), Laurens Oerlemans (vocals) and Rob De Waardt (bass/backing vocals) and they’ve recently finished an album called “Define : Divine”, whoa, that rhymes! -
VINTERSORG - Preparing tracks for the next album (Viking Metal)
Progressive Viking Metallers from Sweden, VINTERSORG, recently posted in gayspace that they are starting to lay down some new stuff for an upcoming album! Obviously, he once again claimed that the new album is so fucking amazing that you’ll wet your pants hearing it! I myself couldn’t expect anything new (or big) with VINTERSORG. I’ve already hear them so huge in “Visions From The Spiral Generator” and I don’t think they can top that! They’ve been pretty solid since day one, but life’s a wheel, heh!
