  1. GHASTLY - A Macabre Ritual MC (Black/Thrash Metal)

I don’t get it. I mean, at this point in time we can see a lot of bands reliving ideas from the 80s. Autralian Ghastly is certainly not an exception. Not that I’m saying this one is bad, but I think I’ve been hearing this kind of style while growing up. I’m talking about growing up within the 80s myself and not buying re-issued LPs of Motorhead, etc while me being born in 1989?! That’s funny. I’ve witness this era myself, I don’t think I have to witness it again, or maybe do I have to recall? No. “A Macabre Ritual” has 4 songs on it. They are very traditional 80s sounding Black/Thrash but more Rock N Rolling ala Motorhead. So yes, nothing is new around here. The style is too common and already heard it before. It’s not bad, but it wasn’t the best either.

  4. TAARMA - Remnants of a Tormenting Black Shadow CD (Black Metal)

TAARMAOh yes, I am so familiar that there are really a thousands, no millions… no, even billions, hehe, of people fond of listening to this kind of “genre”: slow dripping and depressive bedroom black metal. I don’t have any idea why people dig this kind of shit. Probably because a few American boys started it all and the rest just followed that same path. Is it only me that never liked Xasthur in this dying world or what?! Now let’s focus our attention on this band, from Pakistan, yeah of all places, playing the same thing that Malefic and Wrest did show to the world (are they that original? damn!). I never liked Xasthur, so what do you expect? Of course, much that I never liked clone bands like this. Yeah, I simply don’t “understand” them and that what makes it better.
