It all started in the beginning of 1999, when: Firman (guitars), Ibrahim (drums), Sina (bass), Ahmad Fauzi (vocals), and Erlan (guitars) formed an untitled band in Bandung (the capital city of West Java) concerning with root of metal acts. But unfortunately, the band did not last longer because Sina had to study in Semarang (Central Java) and Erlan had to leave the band because of some personal reasons with the other members. After a few months latter, the band recruited two more members: Haryono (vocals) and Roby (guitars), and the line-up was changed to: Ibrahim (drums), Firman (bass), Haryono (vocals), Ahmad Fauzi (vocals) and Roby (guitars). Then the band played their first cover songs of Black Metal and Goth Metal bands such as: Cradle Of Filth (Malice Through The Looking Glass), Moonspell (Opium), and Rakoth (Fear- It Wasn’t In The Design). To make it more harmonic and “easy listening” to their music, the band recruited Adam as the keyboard player and Iqbal as the new drummer replacing Ibrahim (which latter he became the guitar player with Roby). For some little fact, the band was first known as “Father’s Bastard”, but lately this name was to contradictive for a Goth Metal band (I think the name may fit for a Death Metal band). Thus, in 31st October 2000 the band decide to change the name to “Elmeod” (el-meod), which in Arabian is called “al-mauth” (translation: “death”) and it was inspired from the literature of The Holy Quran (Al - Qu’ran) based on the philosophy and the true meaning of death.
